President Conway-Turner to Participate in Buffalo Promise Neighborhood Panel

Buffalo State President Katherine S. Conway-Turner will join a group of community, government, business, and health leaders for a panel discussion following an advanced screening of the documentary The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation on Monday, November 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at WNED/WBFO studios, 140 Lower Terrace St. The event, which is free (online registration), is sponsored by Buffalo Promise Neighborhood, Read to Succeed Buffalo, and WNED/WBFO.

The Raising of America includes a television documentary for PBS in 2015, video learning modules, an online learning center, and a national public engagement campaign. The documentary is produced by California Newsreel, which produces and distributes cutting edge social justice films that inspire, educate and engage audiences.

Joining Dr. Conway-Turner on the panel—which will be moderated by Yvonne Minor-Regain, President of Buffalo Promise Neighborhood—are Mark Czarnecki, President of M&T Bank; Dr. Gale Burstein, Commissioner of Health, Erie County; Dr. LaVonne Ansari, CEO, Community Health Center of Buffalo; Crystal Austin, Parent Leader, Buffalo Promise Neighborhood; and Lucy Mastandrea, Pediatric Endocrinologist, Women and Children’s Hospital.
