Lori Quigley, associate dean of the School of Education, has been named to the New York State Minority Health Council by Gov. David A. Paterson. The Minority Health Council serves as liaison and advocate regarding minority health matters to the State Department of Health.

She was invited to serve because the council plans to develop an educational outreach program to all New Yorkers, including Native Americans. Quigley, a literacy specialist and long-time teacher educator, is a member of the Seneca Nation.

“I’m honored to be named to this position,” said Quigley. “It’s important to make sure the concerns of all New Yorkers are addressed in health care matters.”
