Recognizing Peace One Day

Several Buffalo State student-athletes assembled with approximately 200 students from Buckham Campus West Elementary School to create a peace symbol on Coyer Field in recognition of "Peace One Day," September 21.

In 2001, 192 member states of the United Nations unanimously adopted September 21 as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence. The United Nations International Day of Peace is not only about creating peace between nations, it’s about non-violence in our homes, communities, and schools.

“It was a great chance for our student-athletes to come together with a group of young kids, and hopefully it can have an influence on how they look at the world,” said Buffalo State men’s soccer coach Rudy Pompert, who served as the liaison between Campus West and Buffalo State Athletics.
