Ricky Fleming to Present Trombone Recital

Dr. Ricky L. Fleming, assistant professor of music at Buffalo State College, will present a trombone recital featuring the works of Gustav Mahler, Richard Strauss and Johannes Brahms, on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. in the Burchfield-Penney Art Center on the campus at 1300 Elmwood Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Fleming, who conducts Buffalo State‘s wind and jazz ensembles and teaches applied low brass, studied music education with Clifford K. Madsen and James Croft at Florida State, where he earned his doctorate.

He has served as a high school and middle school band director in Orlando, Florida, where he was named “Teacher of the Year” in 1992. Fleming has presented several clinics for the Florida Bandmasters Association, served as guest conductor for numerous all-state and all-city bands in the south, and has been an adjudicator for several marching, concert jazz and solo ensemble festivals.
