BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State (9-5/2-2) let the second half of doubleheader slip away to come away with a spit against visiting Oneonta (9-7/3-1) in SUNYAC action today at Bengal Field. The Bengals claimed a 4-1 win in the first game, but fell 5-4 in eight innings in the late contest.

Twin sisters Jolene and Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) blew the first game open with back-to-back solo-homeruns in the third inning breaking an early 1-1 tie. Frieling tossed a complete-game four-hitter and had five strikeouts. Jolene Banach finished the game 3 for 3 with the homerun and two runs scored. Jordan Banach was 2 for 3 with a double, a homer and two RBIs. Courtney Keleher (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) and Christina Tschari (Clarence/ Clarence) also collected two hits each.

Oneonta plated the equalizer in the sixth, however, and then won the game with a run in the eighth inning. Freshman Arielle Austin (Smithtown/ Smithtown West) led the Bengals bats, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Jessica Mooney (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
