Softball Player Kristen Scheffold
Softball player Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) was named the Buffalo State Athlete of the Week.
The junior pitcher posted a 5-0 with a 0.38 ERA, as she helped the Bengals close out the regular season on a 10-game winning-streak. Scheffold posted three shutouts during the week including conference wins over SUNYIT, Potsdam, and a 10-inning 1-0 victory over Geneseo. In 37 innings, she struck out 33 while walking only nine, and allowed just 18 hits.
Scheffold and the Bengals will enter this week's double-elimination SUNYAC Championships at Cortland as the No. 2 seed. The Bengals will open the tourney on Thursday at noon against the fifth seed.
