Softball Pounds Potsdam in Sweep
POTSDAM, NY—Buffalo State (17-9/9-3) returned to its winning ways, blasting host Potsdam (5-15/1-9) in a two-game sweep, winning 17-1 in five innings and 6-2.
Buffalo State raced past Potsdam, 17-1, in the opener. Jordan Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) belted a three-run homerun to kick start the offense. Twin sister Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale) was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Courtney Keleher (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West) added a pair of RBIs, and Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/ Frontier) earned the win, allowing just two hits in four innings of work.
Jordan Banach added her eighth homer of the season in the second game and was 3 for 4 to pace the Bengals to the four-run win. Keleher was 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Heather Re (Lindenhurst/ Lindenhurst) was 2 for 2. Jenna Frieling (E. Amherst/ Williamsville North) earned the win, scattering five hits with eight strikeouts.
Buffalo State will play another league twin bill tomorrow at Plattsburgh. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
