Softball Season Ends With 16-Inning Loss to Oneonta

Buffalo State's season came to an end today at the SUNYAC Championships in Cortland with a 1-0 loss to Oneonta in 16 innings.

Oneonta recorded a pair of base hits in the bottom of the 16th inning before Erica Gifford hit a two-out run-scoring double to the right field gap to finally plate the winning run for the Red Dragons. Buffalo State's Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) took the loss on the mound, despite pitching a complete game, scattering just nine hits while recording 11 strikeouts. Oneonta's Amy Herba also went the distance for the win, after no-hitting the Bengals through regulation, she ended the game allowing just five hits while striking out eight. Freshmen Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Emily Goldyn (Lancaster/Lancaster) each doubled, accounting for the Bengals' only extra base hits.

Buffalo State finished the season with a 25-14 overall record.
