Buffalo State (24-8/9-7) need just 10 innings to sweep a SUNYAC-doubleheader against Potsdam (6-16/2-10), winning 8-0 and 12-2, today at a rainy Bengal Field.

In the opener, Buffalo State turned eight hits and five Potsdam errors into eight runs in the five-inning victory. Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) and Lauren Mruk (Lancaster/Lancaster) each went 2 for 3, and Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) was 1 for 2 with three RBIs. Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster/Lancaster) earned her ninth win of the season on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out six in four innings of work.

In the nightcap, the Bengals scored at least one run in each of the five innings en route to the 12-2 win. Hutten was a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle, going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Brooke Matheis (Hamburg/Williamsville South) was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, and Sirianni was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) threw a one-hitter and allowed no earned runs.

Buffalo State will host Plattsburgh tomorrow in another SUNYAC-doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
