Buffalo Review TV debuted on Spectrum cable channel 20 in Buffalo on Monday, March 19, at 7:00 p.m. (rerun Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 a.m.). The weekly news and public affairs program, produced by students from the Communication Department, airs Monday nights throughout the spring semester and replays Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m.

Rob Lewis, operations manager for Apollo Media Center which runs the public access channel for the city of Buffalo, said he was excited to add the show to his lineup.

Lewis said the move would make the Buffalo Review TV available in 70,000 homes in the Buffalo metro area. Joseph Kasko, assistant professor of journalism, and Aaron Daniel Annas, assistant professor of media production, are co-executive producers of the show.

“This is a big opportunity for our students to gain some exposure for their work,” said Kasko. “We’ve covered some important issues, such as domestic violence and mental illness, and I think a lot of people will appreciate the content of our program.”

Lewis said he was hopeful the show would draw an audience of alumni and others interested in hearing about news and events at Buffalo State.

“I’m really excited for our students to see the fruits of their labor featured on a real broadcast and I’m grateful to the Apollo Media Center for their willingness to work with us,” said Kasko.

The show was previously only available on the Buffalo Review YouTube channel.

“This show, and the classes associated with it, really give our students an opportunity to experience how things work in the fast-paced world of broadcast news,” said Kasko.

Monday’s show, which was recorded March 15, feature stories about a campus forum on gun violence, a possible change in how service workers are compensated, a ban on conversion therapy in Erie County, and the issues transfer students face.
