Swimming and Diving Competes at North Country Invitational

Buffalo State competed at the North Country Invitational at Potsdam today, and the men's team placed third of four teams, while the women finished fourth of four.

Highlighting the men's performances were divers Tommy Schilke (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) and Bret Stodolka (Darien/Alexander). Schilke won the one-meter event with a score of 202.85 and captured second on the three-meter board with 203.10 points, while Stodolka won the three-meter competion scoring 226.10. Mark Manka (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) also had a strong meet as he earned a pair of second place finishes, swimming the 100 free in 52.77 and the 200 free in 1:56.22. Freshman Matt Palminteri (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) also earned a second place finish in the 1,650 free in 18:57.25.

On the women's side, Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) posted a pair of second place showings in the 500 free in 5:47.83 and in the 1,650 free with a time of 20:16.73. Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) also had a successful meet, placing second in the 200 free in 2:10.83, and finished third in the 100 free with a time of 58.96.

The Bengals next meet will be on December 5 and 6 when they travel to the Grove City Invitational.
