Swimming and Diving Drop Home Opener to Cortland
Buffalo State opened its home schedule tonight at Kissinger Pool, losing both halves of a dual meet against SUNYAC-rival Cortland. The men were defeated 131-92, while the women fell 129-88.
Highlighting the Bengals men's results was a victory by Kevin Buisman (Penfield/Penfield) in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:40.47. Dave Papke (Woodlawn/St. Francis) also had a strong showing in the 50-yard free, finishing second by .01 seconds with a time of 23.20.
Nicole Rutkowski (Williamsville/Williamsville North) paced the Bengals women, sweeping the diving events, winning the one-meter with a score of 219.55 and the three-meter with 229.10. Sara Weinert (Byron/Byron-Bergen) was runner-up in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:47.03.
Buffalo State will host Penn State Behrend next Friday at 5 p.m. at Kissinger Pool.
