Swimming and Diving Opens Season with Losses at Geneseo

Buffalo State's swimming and diving teams opened their seasons today with a dual meet at Geneseo, with the women falling 127-106, and the men dropping a 126.5-89.5 decision.

On the women's side, diver Nicole Rutkowski (Williamsville/Williamsville North) won both the one-meter (211.55) and three-meter diving (250.55) diving events. Amanda Dory (Amherst/Sweet Home) placed second on the one-meter board with a score of 208.55. Sara Weinert (S. Byron/Byron-Bergen) and Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) placed second and third in the 1,000 free with times of 11:52.56 and 12:00.19 respectively.

On the men's side, Dave Papke (Woodlawn/St. Francis) was the Bengals top performer, placing second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.92.

Buffalo State will compete at Cortland next Friday.
