Swimming and Diving Splits with Fredonia

The Buffalo State Men’s Swimming and Diving team defeated Fredonia today 111-74 at Kissinger Pool today. The women’s team dropped a 118-93 decision to the Blue Devils.

The men’s team received a strong showing by its underclassmen as freshman Matt Palminteri (Dingman’s Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley) took first in the 1650 with a time of 18:39.41 and first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:37.33. Fellow rookie Eric Hastings (Wilmington, DE/Mount Pleasant) captured first in two races including the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.22 and the 500 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:20.59.

Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls), Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), Patricia Cummings (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa), Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) all had first-place finishes in the losing effort. Cummings recorded a season-best time in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 20:00.32.

The Buffalo State Swimming and Diving Teams will be back in action Saturday, January 17, when they host Gannon in Kissinger Pool.
