Swimming and Diving Teams Fall to Cortland
BUFFALO, NY— Buffalo State’s swimming and diving teams lost their first home dual meet of the season to visiting Cortland tonight at Kissinger Pool. The men fell by a score of 117-109, while the women dropped a 105-78 decision.
Lance Thornton (Hastings/Hastings) and Kevin Buisman (Rochester/Penfield) were the lone individual winners for Buffalo State. Thornton won the 200 IM in 2:12.90 and Buisman touched first in the 200 back in 2:12.12.
Also on the men’s side, Cory Skiba (Buffalo/Kenmore West) and John Bakula (Grand Island/Grand Island) each earned two second-place finishes in their respective events. Skiba placed second in the 50 free (23.75) and 100 free (52.45) while Bakula finished runner-up in the 1,000 free (11:26.80) and 500 free (5:38.63).
Miranda Warner (Elmira/Horseheads) and Elisabeth Hilzen (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) paced the women’s team with second-place finishes in the 50 free (27.58) and 200 IM (2:28.83), respectively.
Buffalo State will host Penn State Behrend next Friday at 5 p.m.
