Swimming and Diving Teams Fall at Cortland

Buffalo State's swimming and diving teams were swept at Cortland today, as the men fell 123-100, and the women were defeated 129-77.

Despite the disappointing team finish, several men posted impressive results for the Bengals. Matthew Palminteri (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Del. Valley) started the winning ways, claiming the 1,000 free in 11:10.91. Derek Stoklosa (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) kept the Bengals rolling in the next event by winning the 200 free in 1:56.87. Mark Manka (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) also touched first in the 100 free in 53.45, and Tommy Schilke (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) and Bret Stodolka (Darien/Alexander) won the three and one-meter diving events respectively.

The Bengals had three individual winners on the women's side. Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) claimed the 50 free in 27.06. Mindy Wood (Middlesex/Marcus Whitman) continued her impressive run, winning the 500 free in 5:43.98, and Mary Clausen (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:11.75.

Buffalo State will travel to Oswego this Saturday at 1 p.m.
