Swimming and Diving Teams Host Conference-Rival Cortland

Buffalo State hosted SUNYAC-rival Cortland today in a dual meet at Kissinger Pool. The men's team fell to the Red Dragons, 127-87, and the women were defeated 115-107.

Derek Stoklosa (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) was a standout for the Bengals' men's team, earning a pair of victories. The sophomore touched first in the 200 free (1:55.51) and the 100 free (52.51). Junior Dave Papke (Woodlawn/St. Francis) also captured a first place finish for Buffalo State, winning the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.81.

On the women's side, freshman Nicole Rutkowski (Williamsville/Williamsville North) won both rounds of the one-meter diving competition with a total 10-dive score of 381.55. Freshman Sara Weinert (S. Byron/Byron-Bergen) placed first in the 500 free, clocking 5:36.35. She also joined Marie Ryer (Buffalo/Hutch Tech), Susan Stiner (Niagara Falls/Niagara Falls) and Kari Pappert (Macedon/Palmyra-Macedon) on the victorious 200 free relay team (1:49.18).

The men's team is now 3-3, while the women are 2-5. The Bengals will host Oswego this Saturday at 1 p.m.
