Swimming and Diving Wraps Up Day No. 1 of SUNYAC Championships

BUFFALO, NY--Buffalo State's swimming and diving teams competed in the opening day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships tonight at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in downtown Buffalo. The men's and women's teams both are in seventh of nine teams through six events.

Leading the women's point-scorers were divers Amanda Dory (Amherst/Sweet Home) and Megan Stull (Victor/Victor). Dory placed third on the three-meter board (365.50), while Stull finished 10th (308.45). Kelly Stoklosa (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) and Mindy Wood (Rushville/Marcus Whitman) also scored individual points for the Bengals. Stoklosa placed 13th in the 200 individual medley (2:20.84), and Wood was 14th in the 500 free (5:28.22).

Kevin Buisman (Penfield/Penfield) submitted the top individual results on the men's side, touching 11th in the 200 individual medley (2:04.00). Dave Papke (Woodlawn/St. Francis) was 13th (2:04.72). Eric Hastings (Wilmington, DE/Mt. Pleasant) added a 12th place finish in the 500 free (4:59.22).

The championship meet will continue tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals starting at 6 p.m.
