Swimming & Diving Competes at North Country Invitational

POTSDAM, NY--Buffalo State’s swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the two-day North Country Invitational today with the men placing second of five teams, and the women finished fourth.

Kevin Buisman (Penfield/Penfield) led the Bengals’ men, winning a pair of events, winning the 200 IM (2:08.04) and the 1,650 free (18:11.21). Vince Wasneechak (Gorham, ME/Lemoore) added two second-place finishes in the 200 butterfly (2:20.06) and the 400 IM (4:47.90). Lance Thornton (Hastings/Hastings) was second in the 100 butterfly (58.44) and Cory Skiba (Buffalo/Kenmore West) was third in the 100 back (1:00.17). Thornton, Wasneechak, Skiba and Rich Aguilo (Wantagh/Wantagh) also teamed up to win the 400 free relay (3:52.37).

Elisabeth Hilzen (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) paced the women, winning the 400 IM (5:08.84), and finished second in the 200 breast (2:42.87).

Buffalo State will get back in the water on Nov. 30 for the first day of the Grove City Invitational.
