Swimming & Diving Teams Split with Brockport

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State’s swimming and diving teams wrapped up the regular season with a split decision against visiting Brockport with the men (3-4) claiming a 117-106 victory and the women (3-5) falling, 134-75, in a meet today at Kissinger Pool.

Kevin Buisman (Rochester/Penfield) was a double winner for the Bengals, winning the 200-yd back (2:13.62) and 500-yd free (5:13.39). Other top finishers for Buffalo State were Vince Wasneechak (Gorham, ME/Lemoore) in the 400-yd individual medley (4:50.92), Scott Banks (N. Tonawanda/Niagara Wheatfield) in the 200-yd fly (2:17.22) and Tim Harroun (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) in the 100-yd breast (1:05.66). The Bengals’ 400-yd medley relay of Wasneechak, Harroun, Banks and Paul Clark (Kenmore/Kenmore West) also touched first in a time of 4:01.36.

On the women’s side, Kelly Swanson (Amherst/Amherst) also had two first-place finishes for Buffalo State, winning the 400-yd individual medley (5:26.49) and the 200-yd fly (2:45.75). Elisabeth Hilzen (Glen Rock, NJ/Glen Rock) won the 100-yd breast in 1:17.79.

Buffalo State will next compete at the season-ending SUNYAC Championship meet held at the Flickinger Center on the Erie Community College downtown campus on Feb. 6-9.
