Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Day 1 at SUNYACs

BUFFALO, NY--Buffalo State's swimming and diving teams kicked off the opening portion of the SUNYAC Championships today at the ECC Flickinger Aquatic Center. After 12 events, the women are seventh of nine teams, while the men are ninth.

The women's 200 free relay team of Karli Bender (Orchard Park/Mt. Mercy), Caitlin Morsch (Avon/Avon), Megan Farrell (Akron/Akron) and Miranda Warner (Elmira/Horseheads) placed fifth (1:13.62). The top individual finishes were submitted on the 3-meter diving board by Kris Kinn (Angola/Lakeshore) (12th - 319.95) and Megan Stull (Victor/Victor) (14th - 302.60). Mindy Wood (Rushville/Middlesex) added a 16th-place showing in the 500 free (5:32.57), and Morsch was also 16th in the 50 free (26.29).

Matt Clark (Amherst/Sweet Home) had the top individual showing for the men, finishing 12th in the 1-meter dive (221.85), and Tim Harroun (Tonawanda/Tonawanda) was 16th in the 200 individual medley (2:09.42).

The championship meet will continue tomorrow and conclude on Saturday. Prelims begin each day at 10 a.m., and the finals start at 6 p.m.
