FREDONIA, NY—Buffalo State’s Jolene Banach (Cheektowaga/ Maryvale), Laurie Hutten (Tonawanda/ Kenmore West), and Aimee Fisher (Hamburg/ Frontier) were recognized today as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its Softball All-Conference team for the 2007 season.
Banach, a sophomore health and wellness major, earned the honor for the second-consecutive season. She played every game at third base this season and finished as the Bengals' leading hitter with a .407 season average. Banach also led the team with 12 doubles, was third with 22 RBIs and also added three home runs.
Hutten earned All-Conference honors for the third straight season as a second baseman. The senior sociology major started every game and hit .388 with a team-best 52 hits from the leadoff position. Hutten added power to her repertoire this season, hitting six homeruns, after hitting only two in her first three years. She also had five doubles, three triples, 19 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
Fisher, a sophomore biology major, was a first-time honoree as a pitcher. She led the Bengals staff with a 14-4 record and had a 2.01 ERA. She also broke her own single-season strikeout record with 161. Fisher was also a force at the plate, hitting .353 with 15 RBI and four homeruns, including three at the SUNYAC Championships.
Buffalo State finished third in the SUNYAC and posted an overall record of 27-11.
