Track and Field Competes at SUNYAC Championships; Men Take Third, Women Place Eighth

Buffalo State competed at the SUNYAC Championships today in Cortland, with the men placing third of nine teams with 84 points, while the women finished eighth with 29 points.

Justin Muise (Kenmore/Kenmore West) led the men's team with a pair of championships in the 400m dash and 400m hurdles with times of 48.89 and 54.56 respectively. Muise also took second in the 110m hurdles in 15.21. Ken Ciolek (Limestone/Bradford Area) also captured a pair of titles, winning the javelin (54.66m) and the triple jump (13.20m). The Bengals' 4x100m relay team of Muise, Mike Taylor (Cheektowaga/Maryvale), Tim Giagios (Rochester/Gates-Chili), and Chris Lape (Millbrook/Millbrook) took second with a time of 43.14.

On the women's side, Mercedes Roper (Buffalo/City Honors) crossed first in the 100m dash with a time of 12.90. She also earned a championship with the 4x100m relay team with Desi Gibson (Rochester/Edison Tech), Linda Williams (Rochester/Edison Tech) and Keyia Thompkins (Rochester/Edison Tech), clocking 49.12.
