Track and Field Competes at University of Rochester Invite

ROCHESTER, NY--Buffalo State's outdoor track and field teams competed in a non-team scored meet at the Univerity of Rochester's Fauver Stadium today.

Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) was the top-finisher on the women's side with a second-place showing in the high jump, clearing 1.63 meters, just .04 meters shy of equaling her own school record. LaVonne Barfield (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) also posted a pair of strong finishes. Her triple jump of 10.85 meters was good enough for third place, and missed matching a school record by just .10 meters. She also finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.19. Jamie Abbott (Pulaski/Pulaski) added a fifth-place finish in the discus throw (32.77m).

Paul Mesi (Clarence/Clarence) was the top individual finisher on the men's side, placing fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.11. The men's 4x100-meter relay team of Eric Bream (Lockport/Lockport), Jason Veit (Shirley/William Floyd), Benito Bruner (Syracuse/Nottingham) and Narcius Celestin (Nanuet/Spring Valley) also placed fourth, clocking 44.42.

Buffalo State will compete at the Slippery Rock Invitational this Saturday.
