Track and field athletes Richard Harris (Rochester/Hilton), Todd Wassinger (Sanborn/Starpoint), Jenelle Orosz (N. Tonawanda/N. Tonawanda) and Dana Migliorino (Wayne/Wayne Valley) were named the Buffalo State Athletes of the Week.

All four Buffalo State rookies set new school records in the first outdoor meet of the season, the Emory Classic in Atlanta, Ga. Harris broke a 20-year-old mark in the 110 hurdles with a winning time of 14.62. Wassinger set the new standard in the hammer throw with a first-place distance of 47.94 meters. Orosz's record came with a second place showing in the high jump, clearing 1.67 meters. Migliorino set the new record in the pole vault at 2.15 meters.
