Track and Field Runs at U. of Miami Hurricane Challenge
CORAL GABLES, Fla.—Buffalo State’s track and field teams completed their spring trip competing against some of the best athletes from the from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) today at the University of Miami Hurricane Challenge at Cobb Stadium.
Some of the top individual performances for the Bengal women included Katya Marin (Mt. Vernon/ Mt. Vernon) placing seventh in the 400-meter run (59.01), Lavonne Barfield (Rochester/ Wilson Magnet) finishing eighth in the long jump (5.62m), and Latoya D. Edwards (Brooklyn/ Clara Barton) crossing 16th in the 100-meter dash (12.41).
Ali Abdul-Matin (Troy/Troy) had the best showing for the men, placing second in the long jump (6.66m). Mario Hicks (Corning/ Corning West) was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.93), and Xavier Mateen (New Rochelle/ New Rochelle) was 12th in the 200-meter dash (22.46).
Buffalo State will return to action next Saturday at the University of Rochester Invitational.
