Track & Field Opens New York State Championships

BROCKPORT, NY--Buffalo State competed in the first official day of the NYSCTC Championships today at Brockport's Special Olympics Stadium. After one day of competition, the men are fifth of 14 teams, and the women are 11th.

Tim Diegelman (Clarence/Clarence) has scored in three events so far, placing fourth in the high jump (6.45m), eighth in the javelin (46.71m), and was fifth in the decathlon (5,626 points) earlier this week. Ray Shadowens (Troup, TX/Arp) was third in the decathlon with 5,810 points. LaVonne Barfield (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) is the lone point-scorer so far on the women's side, finishing third in the long jump (5.46m).

Buffalo State will complete the state championship meet tomorrow at Brockport.
