Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at Miami (FL) Hurricane Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla.--An abreviated version of Buffalo State's track and field teams opened the outdoor season this weekend at the Miami (FL) Hurricane Invitational against several of the nation's elite athletes representing more than 20 NCAA Division I programs.
Strong showings for the Bengals men included Kyle Fenner (N. Syracuse/CNS) placing second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:00.32) and 12th in the 5,000-meter run (16:10.21). Ali Abdul-Matin (Troy/Troy) was third in the triple jump (14.07m) and 17th in the long jump (6.28m). Tim Diegelman (Clarence/Clarence) was eighth in the javelin (43.94m).
Margaret Hughes (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) had the top showing for the women, finishing ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 19:34.65.
Buffalo State will compet at Miami again next Saturday.
