The Great Performers series, sponsored by M&T Bank, continues into 2014 with jazz guitar legend Earl Klugh and singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo. The series offers an up close and personal experience with talented artists in Buffalo State’s own Rockwell Hall.

Tickets for the two shows go on sale Monday, October 28, at 9:00 a.m. All Great Performers Series shows are priced between $35 and $40, are available at the Rockwell Hall Box Office (1300 Elmwood Ave.), by calling (716) 878-3005 or online. The Rockwell Hall Box Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Kicking off the second half of the Great Performers series on Friday, February 14, is Grammy award-winning, African native, Angelique Kidjo. Known for her diverse influences and heavy involvement with UNICEF, Kidjo has been called “Africa’s premier diva” by Time magazine and was the first woman to be listed in Forbes magazine’s “40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa.” She has put out several albums and has collaborated with Dave Matthews, Alicia Keys, Josh Groban, John Legend, and many other artists. Kidjo will take you on an unforgettable musical journey.

Continuing the series is guitarist Earl Klugh, on Thursday, March 13. Klugh has released more than 30 discs showcasing his guitar talent and has received 12 Grammy nominations. Klugh’s solo guitar albums have been given a wide range of attention, and his latest release, HandPicked, is no different. The new recording consists of beautiful string duets between Earl and his friends, with each song “handpicked” by Earl to reflect his musical passion and offering tribute to those who have influenced him the most. The New York Times hails him as a "guitarist with impeccable technique," and he captivates audiences with his stellar live shows.
