The Great Lakes Center presents its last seminar for spring 2010 on Thursday, May 13, at 12:15 p.m. in Classroom Building B118.

The speaker is Dima Beletsky, an associate research scientist with the Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecosystems Research (CILER) at the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

His presentation, “Modeling Thermal Structure and Circulation in the Great Lakes,” will paint a broad picture of major physical processes in the Great Lakes, and their implications for lake ecology. Beletsky is widely published in his area of study, and has received a number of awards including the Chandler-Misener Award, International Association for Great Lakes Research, 2008; the Scientific Achievement Award, CILER, University of Michigan, 2007; and the Outstanding Scientific Paper Award, NOAA Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research, 2006.
