Buffalo State’s University Police Department (UPD) answered the call of duty on Thursday—they got soaked for charity. Buffalo State’s police force was challenged by University at Buffalo Police to take part in the popular ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. UPD officers donated $20 each to participate and contributions were accepted to dump the buckets of icy water. More than $800 was raised and will be donated to the ALS Association.

A large crowd gathered in the Student Union Plaza to watch as Chief of University Police Pete Carey nominated Dean of Students Charles Kenyon, Buffalo State Director of Athletics and Football Head Coach Jerry Boyes, and the Canisius College Department of Public Safety to continue the challenge.

"UPD is happy to have had fun and raise money for such a worthy cause,” said Carey.
