A Message from the Vice President for Student Affairs

Dear Buffalo State Students,

Earlier today, we informed the campus community that two Buffalo State students reported they were the victims of an armed robbery at 3:50 a.m. while in their room in the Tower 2 residence hall. The University Police Department (UPD) is investigating the incident and encourages anyone with information to come forward to aid in the investigation by calling (716) 878-6333 or the University Police Department confidential tip line at (716) 878-3166.

In the meantime, we want to reassure all members of the campus community that the University Police Department is working diligently on the case and is aggressively pursuing all leads. University Police officers will have an increased presence on campus, and at Homecoming activities, throughout the weekend.

We are doing everything possible to ensure that you are safe while on campus. All residence halls are under 24-hour surveillance. Exit doors are alarmed to reduce the risk that they might be left ajar. University Police Student Assistants are stationed in residence hall lobbies to increase the presence of the UPD in the residence halls.

Buffalo State is a community of people who care about and care for each other. We are concerned about and committed to your safety. We feel strongly that efforts to keep you safe include keeping you informed. That is why I encourage you to please also share this message with your parents/guardians. I want to assure both you and your parents/guardians that we will continue to communicate with you as information becomes available.

I want to remind you that we are here for you. If for any reason you feel unsafe and need someone to talk to, please, feel free to call me at (716) 878-5550. You may also reach out to the dean of students at (716) 878-4618, your residence hall director, a resident assistant, or call the Counseling Center at (716) 878-4436.
