Volleyball Downs Oswego; Edged by Fredonia

Buffalo State split its two matches today at the first round of SUNYAC Pool Play at Brockport, defeating Oswego, 3-0, before falling to Fredonia, 3-2.

Buffalo State won the first match over Oswego by scores of 30-20, 30-25 and 37-35. Sam Damstetter (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) had 10 kills and 24 digs in the victory, while Keri Bumgardner (Babylon/West Babylon) had eight kills and three block assists. Jen Breier (Grand Island) served up six aces and added eight kills.

In the second match, Fredonia defeated Buffalo State with scores of 30-17, 19-30, 24-30, 30-20, and 15-13. The Bengals' Lauren Wright (Westfield/Westfiled) had 40 assists and Bumgardner had 19 kills, one ace, and three blocks.

Buffalo State is now 2-17 overall and 1-3 in SUNYAC play. The Bengals will travel to St. John Fisher on Thursday.
