Volleyball Drops Pair of Matches to Start Season
Buffalo State opened its season tonight at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic by suffering a pair of 3-0 losses to Nazareth and Lebanon Valley.
Nazareth defeated the Bengals in the opener by scores of 30-24, 30-21 and 30-12. Senior Sarah Ingham (Lewiston/Niagara Catholic) paced the Bengals' offense with four kills, and freshman Christina Lombardi (Syracuse/Solvay) recorded 12 digs.
In the late match, Lebanon Valley prevailed over Buffalo State, 30-28, 30-18 and 30-21. Sam Damstetter (W. Seneca/W. Seneca East) pounded seven kills and had five digs, while Ingham pitched in seven kills and four digs.
Buffalo State opened the season 0-2 and will continue in the Cortland Classic tomorrow, facing St. Lawrence or Oswego at 9 a.m. in the Silver Bracket.
