Volleyball Splits a Pair of Matches to Close Out Conference Play
Volleyball closed out its second and final round of SUNYAC Pool Play today, splitting a pair of matches. Buffalo State defeated Oswego, 3-1, earlier this morning, but fell to Fredonia by the same score later in the day.
In the match against Oswego, the Bengals were defeated in the first game, 30-22, but fought back to take the next three games by scores of 30-27, 30-23, 30-27. Sam Damstetter (West Seneca/West Seneca East) posted a double-double with 15 kills and 28 digs. Jen Breier (Grand Island/Grand Island) added 21 kills while Lauren Wright (Westfield/Westfield) tallied 41 assists in the four games.
Against Fredonia,the Bengals fell 30-20,30-26, 28-30, 30-23. Damstetter posted her second double-double of the day, with 12 kills and 22 digs. Lauren Clark (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) aided in the effort by adding 12 kills and 15 digs while Wright registered 43 assists.
The Bengals close out their conference play with a 2-6 mark in the SUNYAC and a 6-23 record overall. The Bengals will play on Tuesday at RIT at 7 p.m.
