SUNY Buffalo State’s Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC) will host 35 community organizations from across Western New York at its Volunteer Fair and September 11 National Day of Service, Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Quad.

In conjunction with the Anne Frank Project, a campuswide social justice conference taking place September 11–13, the VSLC is facilitating participation in this national event to recognize the importance of active citizenship not only during times of crisis, but every day. Representatives from non-profit organizations, such as the Buffalo City Mission, Five Loaves Farm, International Institute, and Westside Ministries will speak with students about volunteer opportunities that connect with their personal interests and will provide service projects that can be accomplished anywhere from five minutes to two hours.

“This event is an important way to start the year. It engages students in meaningful projects that address the community’s needs,” said Laura Hill Rao, VSLC coordinator. “In the past, students have spent a short amount of time volunteering during the event and have found opportunities to commit to community organizations throughout the year.”

The entire campus is invited to attend this free event. (716) 878-3916.
