Western New York State Nursery and Landscape Association Donates Tree to Buffalo State Arboretum
Buffalo State College President Muriel A. Howard, Ph.D., and Western New York State Nursery and Landscape Association, Inc. (WNYSNLA) president John Heineke will dedicate a gray dogwood tree on Friday, October 25, at 3 p.m. that was planted just north of Campus House (located on Iroquois Drive on the campus.)
This tree, donated by WNYSNLA, replaces a gray dogwood donated and planted by the association 35 years ago on October 25, 1967. This month, Buffalo State is also celebrating the 40th anniversary of the dedication of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum, located on the college campus. The arboretum features more than 1,700 trees and shrubs.
WNYSNLA is a trade association made up of nursery growers, garden center operators, and landscape contractors. "Without their services and the availability of quality plant material," said Joe Territo, campus arborist," our arboretum would not be possible."
If it rains, the ceremony will take place in the college's newly renovated Campus House.
