Williams Receives Luis M. Antonetti Student Humanitarian Award

Lafayette K. Williams has received the 2010 Luis M. Antonetti Student Humanitarian Award. Williams is a Buffalo State senior, majoring in Individualized Studies.

In 2009, Williams received the Litwin Family Memorial Award for campus leadership and was inducted into the Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society. He was the recipient of the Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Diversity in 2008.

Williams volunteers with the College-Based Transition Program, which supports an inclusive experience for college-age students with significant needs and/or disabilities. A member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, he has held numerous positions that increase awareness and understanding of Native Americans, including resident assistant in the Native American suite in the North Wing Residence Hall; orientation leader for incoming students; active member of the Native American Students Organization. He also helped organize a benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims that raised over $4,000.
