Women's Basketball Blasts SUNYIT, 73-38

Junior Tawan Slaughter’s (Buffalo/ Christian Central) career-high 25 points led Buffalo State to its first SUNYAC win of the season, defeating SUNYIT, 73-38, earlier this evening in Utica, N.Y.

Buffalo State sprinted out of the gates, taking a 23-4 lead just over 10 minutes into the game. The Bengals maintained the lead to take a 35-15 advantage into the intermission and never looked back. Buffalo State owned the boards, outrebounding the Wildcats 61-38.

Slaughter went 10-of-15 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Junior Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) tallied 14 points, while freshman Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) added 13 points. Sophomores Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) and Amanda Benoit (Deerfield/Whitesboro) each registered 15 boards. Moseley also added nine points in the winning effort.

Buffalo State advances to 4-8 overall with a 1-3 mark in conference play. The Bengals will stay on the road and face Oswego tomorrow at 2 p.m.
