Women’s Basketball Closes Non-Conference Slate With Win Over Rutgers-Camden
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.—Buffalo State (5-6) shot 56-percent in the second half and topped Rutgers-Camden (4-6), 55-44, in its final non-conference game of the season today at the Lycoming College Classic.
Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) paced the Bengals with 10 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Alyssa Kinney (Medford/Bellport) had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Cat Ejimadu (Buffalo/Bennett) also scored 10 points. Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) added nine points and four steals and earned All-Tournament Team recognition.
Defense and poor shooting ruled the first half for both teams as the score was knotted at 19-19 after 20 minutes. Buffalo State hit 14 of 25 field goals, including 3 of 4 from long range, in the second half, however, to run away with the win. The Bengals held Camden to 33-percent shooting for the game, and just 29-percent in the second half.
Buffalo State will resume SUNYAC play on Friday with a home date against Potsdam at 6 p.m.
