Women's Basketball Falls at Cortland, 63-50
Despite Jacey Brooks' (Machias/Franklinville) 23 points, Buffalo State (8-14/5-8) dropped a 63-50 decision at Cortland (16-5/10-3) tonight in a SUNYAC contest.
Cortland led 29-20 after 20 minutes, but the Bengals opened the second half with a 9-2 run to close the deficit to just two. Cortland regained a double-digit lead minutes later, but the Bengals came back again, trailing just 45-42 with 6:43 to play. Cortland did not allow Buffalo State any closer, however, as it pulled away for the victory. The Red Dragons outrebounded Buffalo State 37-28.
Brooks scored her game-high 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) added nine points and five rebounds for the Bengals.
Kaylin VanDusen led Cortland with 18 points. Dani Maye added 16 points and eight boards, and Sara Cavanaugh had 12 points.
Buffalo State will visit New Paltz tomorrow at 2 p.m.
