Women's Basketball Falters at SUNYIT, 60-53
UTICA, NY—Buffalo State (6-13/3-7) surrendered a double-digit lead and dropped a 60-53 decision at SUNYIT (6-12/2-7) tonight in a critical conference game. The loss is just the second against SUNYIT in 25 games.
Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) led Buffalo State with 16 points and had six rebounds. Shareese Hamer (Erie, PA/Strong Vincent) had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Gina Apa (Buffalo/McKinley) added 11 points and six steals.
Buffalo State led by as many as 10 points in the opening half, and maintained a 24-17 advantage at the intermission. The Wildcats rallied and took the lead for good at 39-36 with 9:36 remaining. SUNYIT then used an 11-1 run to distance itself, and held the Bengals off down the stretch.
Buffalo State will host Potsdam for a SUNYAC game on Friday at 6 p.m.
