Women's Basketball Loses at First-Place Cortland, 65-43
CORTLAND, NY--Despite 24 points from Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK), Buffalo State (6-12/3-6) lost to first-place Cortland (15-2/10-0), 65-43, tonight in a SUNYAC game at Corey Gym.
Cortland played relentless defense from the start, helping the Red Dragons take a 35-23 lead into the intermission. It was more of the same in the second half as the Red Dragons never allowed Buffalo State back in the game, outrebounding the Bengals 49-29 for the contest. Cortland shot 41.7-percent from the field, including 6 of 15 from three-point range. Buffalo State shot just 26.3-percent from the floor.
Parks was 9 of 15 from the field and 3 of 7 from long range, and she added five steals. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) added 12 points and eight rebounds. Sara Cavanaugh led Cortland with 20 points and seven boards.
Buffalo State will host Brockport on Tuesday.
