Women's Basketball Tops New Paltz, 59-49
BUFFALO, NY—Sophomore Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) tallied a career-high 21 points to lead Buffalo State (5-7/2-2) past visiting New Paltz (5-6/1-3), 59-49, tonight in a SUNYAC game at the Sports Arena.
Buffalo State closed the opening half with a 12-3 run to take a 33-25 advantage into the intermission. New Paltz could not mount a rally in the second half as it did not come closer that seven. Buffalo State shot 41-percent from the field, compared to 30-percent shooting by the Hawks.
Parks, who scored 14 of her 21 points in the first half, added three assists and four steals. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) recorded her 14th career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Kristin Jackson (East Islip/East Islip) led New Paltz with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Toni Marie Caserta (Levittown/Douglas MacArthur) added 10 points and three steals for the Hawks.
Buffalo State will host Ithaca tomorrow in a non-conference game at 2 p.m.
