Women's Basketball Wins at New Paltz, 71-62
Buffalo State (9-14/6-8) defeated host New Paltz (10-12/4-9), 71-62, today in a SUNYAC contest, despite having just five players score points.
The Bengals took a 31-27 lead into halftime. New Paltz stayed within striking distance throughout the second half, and led 55-53 with 4:36 remaining. The Bengals responded quickly, however, reclaiming the lead for good just second later. Buffalo State hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final 33 seconds to clinch the victory.
Tawan Slaughter (Buffalo/Christian Central) led the Bengals with 22 points. Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) had 15 points and nine rebounds. Darnika Moseley (Liverpool/Liverpool) added 14 points, and Ashley DeVaughn (Williamsville/Williamsville East) scored a career-high 13 points.
Kerri Kelty led New Paltz with 16 points and six boards. Sandra Glazewski added 13 points for the Hawks.
Buffalo State will travel to Fredonia on Tuesday.
