Buffalo State gave SUNYAC-rival Oswego as close a game as it has seen all season, but the Lakers (10-0/4-0) remained undefeated, topping the Bengals, 61-57, today in Oswego.

The Lakers opened up a 14-point lead late in the opening half, but a 12-1 Buffalo State run to close the period made the score just 34-31 at the intermission. Buffalo State took a two point lead early in the second half and found the score tied at 57-57 with 1:55 remaining. The Lakers would add a lay-up and a pair of free throws in the final minute, however, to seal the victory. Buffalo State shot just 30-percent from the field and 18-percent from three point range.

Sophomore Amanda Benoit (Deerfield/Whitesboro) led the Bengals with her first career double-double, with a career-high 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) had 14 points and six boards, and Toya Parks (Brooklyn/MLK) added eight points and four assists.

Buffalo State fell to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in SUNYAC. The Bengals will host St. John Fisher in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
