Women’s Hockey Holds Annual End-of-Year Banquet
Buffalo State's women's hockey team held its end-of-the-year banquet on Saturday at Chef’s Restaurant and recognized several individuals with various team awards.
Senior goalie Shannon Anesetti (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) was honored as the team's Most Valuable Player for the second-consecutive year. Freshman Abbey Hubble (Herndon/ Herndon) took home the "Unsung Hero" Award. Freshman goalie Kristilynn Reed (Blasdell/ Frontier) was named the Most Improved Player, and Marissa McMullan (Haileybury, ON) was honored as the Rookie of the Year.
The Bengal Award was presented to senior Mary Cohen (Ann Arbor, MI/ Pioneer). The award is given annually to the player who embodies the ideal characteristics of a true student-athlete and is a leader on and off the ice.
The 2008-09 captains (as voted by the players) were also introduced. Melissa Jeckovich (Niagara Falls/ Niagara Falls) and Casey Bull (Lockport/ Lockport) were named co-captains, and Kristin Bozek (Buffalo/ Hutch Tech) will be an assistant.
