Women's Hockey Ties UMass Amherst, 2-2

Buffalo State tied UMass Amherst (club), 2-2, in overtime earlier this afternoon at the Buffalo State Ice Arena in an exhibition game.

After a scoreless first period, UMass struck first late in the second period to open the scoring. Jamie Overbeck (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) and Jackie Blanchard (Delmar/Bethlehem) each scored in the third period to elevate the Bengals to a 2-1 lead. UMass found the back of the net at the 19:04 mark in the third period to send the game into overtime. Each team notched only one shot in the overtime period. Meredith Larsen (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) made 23 saves between the pipes for the Bengals, as they out shot UMass 32-25.

The Bengals return to the Ice Arena Saturday, December 11 when they take on Elmira in an ECAC West game at 1 p.m.
