Women's Lacrosse Blasts Oneonta, 21-10
BUFFALO, NY—Ten different Bengals scored as Buffalo State (4-2/2-0) defeated Oneonta (6-4/1-1), 21-10, in a SUNYAC game today at Coyer Field. The win marks the first-ever victory for Buffalo State against Oneonta, as the Red Dragons had previously held an 8-0 advantage in the all-time series.
Stephanie Georgopoulos (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) led Buffalo State with four goals and two assists. Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) netted four goals and added one assist. Katie Henderson (Lakeview/Frontier) recorded her second five-goal performance of the season, while Molly Seifritz (Syracuse/Henninger) chipped in two goals and an assist. Katie Lyons (Williamsville/Williamsville North) had a goal and an assist. Erin Silky (Liverpool/Liverpool), Jennifer Tierney (Massapequa/Massapequa), Marilyn Kush (East Aurora/East Aurora), Kelly Nelson (Hamburg/Frontier) and Abby Breneman (Wooster, OH/Wooster) all scored single goals for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State led 12-2 at the intermission, scoring the first seven goals of the game. The Bengals held a 35-26 advantage in shots. Ashley O’Brien (Lima/Honeoye Falls-Lima) made 14 saves in net for Buffalo State.
Buffalo State will next host Geneseo on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
