Women's Lacrosse Falls to Brockport, 12-9
Buffalo State was edged out by SUNAYC-rival Brockport, 12-9, earlier this evening at Coyer Field.
The Bengals started out strong as Shantel Ackley (Baldwinsville/C.W.Baker) gave Buffalo State an early 1-0 lead just 25 seconds into the game. Brockport answered by netting two goals in 20 seconds to take a one-goal lead just over four minutes later. Buffalo State managed to tie the game at 5-5 midway through the first half off a goal by Tara Ammerman (Naples/Marcus Whitman), but the Bengals weren’t able to hang on, as Brockport out shot the Bengals 23-20.
Ammerman led the charge for Buffalo State with three goals and one assist. Ackley and Erin Silky (Liverpool/Liverpool) added two goals apiece while Leah Bernal (Marilla/Iroquois) and Katie Lyons (Williamsville/Williamsville North) registered one goal each. Janine Forman (N.Massapequa/Plainedge) and Katie Rivers (Watertown/Watertown) tallied three and four saves, respectively. Renne Cuda (Lafayette/Lafayette) netted four goals while Angela Inzinna (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) tallied three goals for the Golden Eagles.
The Bengals fall to 7-2 overall and 1-2 in SUNYAC play. Buffalo State will travel to Potsdam this Friday for a 1:00 p.m. conference game.
